FOOMA JAPAN 2027 Academic Plaza - Industry-Academia Collaboration Lab: Call for Research Laboratory Applications

We will provide a platform for research presentations on food, food machinery, equipment, and related technologies at the venue of the exhibition ' FOOMA JAPAN 2027 ' organized by the Japan Food Machinery Manufacturers' Association. We look forward to receiving applications from many research institutions.

Purpose By promoting the overall development and technological advancement of the food and food machinery sectors and fostering industry-academia collaboration, this Academic Plaza seeks to contribute to richer and safer dietary lives for the public.
Date/Hours Tuesday, June 8 - Friday, June 11, 2027, 10:00 - 17:00
Location East Halls of Tokyo Big Sight (Ariake, Koto-Ku, Tokyo)
Qualifications Research laboratories at universities, colleges of technology, or public research institutions (joint presentations by multiple research groups are also accepted).
Area of Research
  • Food, food machinery and equipment, and related technologies
  • Research on technologies with potential applications in the food industry
(Same presentations made previously at past Academic Plazas will not be accepted.)
Number of Presenters Approximately 40 research laboratories
Presentation Format A four-day poster exhibition and a 15-minute oral presentation.
Note: Oral presentations are mandatory for domestic research laboratories and optional for overseas laboratories.

Participation Requirements
  1. Display a poster that clearly explains the research content in Japanese at the designated location during the exhibition period.
  2. Have at least one representative present at the booth to explain the research to visitors during the exhibition period.
  3. Give an oral presentation according to the schedule assigned by the Association.
    Note: Oral presentations are mandatory for domestic research laboratories and optional for overseas laboratories.
  4. Submit all documentation requested by the Association by the specified deadlines.
  5. Comply with all rules and regulations established by the Japan Food Machinery Manufacturers' Association.
Application Period October 5 - November 20, 2026
(Applications must be received by the Secretariat no later than November 20, 2026.)
How to Apply Please use the attached Research Presentation Application Form, or prepare an application form containing the same information, and complete all required fields.

  • Send the application form by e-mail as a Word or PDF file containing editable text data.
  • We will notify you upon receipt of your application form.
  • Please note that, depending on the number of applications received, we may not be able to accept all presenters.
  • If your presentation is accepted, you will be notified accordingly.
Selection Review and selection of presenters will be made by the Technical Committee of the Japan Food Machinery Manufacturers' Association.
Selection Notification You will be notified of the selection results in December.
Important Reminders
  • Submitted application materials will not be returned. Any personal information collected will be used solely for the operation of Academic Plaza.
  • Please provide all information requested on the application form. If any required information is missing, we may be unable to accept your presentation.
  • In order to provide opportunities for as many research institutions as possible, multiple applications from the same institution may be consolidated into a single presentation. Thank you for your understanding.
  • Late applications will not be accepted under any circumstances. Please ensure that your application is submitted by the deadline.
  • Any promotional activities for a specific company are strictly prohibited. When presenting joint research conducted with a private company, please note the following points. If you have any questions, please contact the Secretariat:
    • Company names and product names (including trademarks) related to the research must not appear on posters, abstracts, or any other presentation materials.
    • No company promotion, sales activity, or marketing activity is permitted during oral presentations.
